Sasa Polyester: Workers Protesting Over Unpaid Wages Are Employees of the Contractor, Not Our Company

Foreks - In a statement made today by Sasa Polyester (IS:SASA), it was clarified regarding recent worker demonstrations reported by some news sites that "the workers protesting due to unpaid salaries are employees of the subcontractor company, not our firm."

The statement further noted: "It has been observed that there are news reports on some internet news sources and social media platforms claiming that workers at the SASA Polyester A.Ş. factory are demonstrating due to unpaid salaries. We would like to emphasize that these reports and social media posts are related to workers of subcontractor firms with no connection to our employees. The claims mentioned in these reports do not concern SASA employees; furthermore, as a reflection of the importance we place on labor rights and social security, all payments at our company are meticulously monitored, and there are no disruptions. SASA has no debts to the subcontractor firm being complained about by the workers; in fact, SASA has receivables from this subcontractor.

As SASA, we always take all necessary precautions to ensure full compliance with labor law and legal regulations. Our employees are not only a workforce but also fundamental elements of our company's success. Protecting their rights and providing a fair and safe working environment is our core principle. We would like to reiterate that we will continue to defend all rights of our employees without any compromise in this regard.

We also expect all subcontractor firms we collaborate with to fully meet their legal and financial obligations towards their employees. However, the workers experiencing the mentioned problems are employees of subcontractors performing various tasks at our site and have no employment relationship with SASA. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the subcontractor firm employing the relevant workers to pay these workers' salaries, not SASA. Our company has not been part of any situation that triggers such problems in any way and has fulfilled all obligations towards its employees. Problems that may arise with subcontractors regarding their internal processes and employees are issues that can only be resolved by the respective firms.

To prevent such misunderstandings, to accurately inform the public, and to maintain our strong ties with both our employees and our investors and society, we continuously enhance our communication and cooperation with all our business partners.

To eliminate the negative perception created in public opinion and to emphasize the value SASA places on its employees, we will continue to make all necessary statements, sustain all communication efforts, and consistently show the required value to workers and laborers.

We hereby inform the public that we will take the necessary legal actions against individuals, institutions, and organizations spreading false and misleading news about our company, preserving all our rights originating from the law, and expressing our respect to the public."
